A Lasting Legacy

You can make a lasting commitment to Savio when you include a legacy gift for us in your estate plans. These future gifts will impact the children and families we serve.

The Joseph Frattini Legacy Society

The Joseph Frattini Legacy Society was created to honor and thank those who establish legacy gifts. There are many ways to do this. Some have created a future gift in their will or living trust, while others have named us as a beneficiary of an IRA or permanent life insurance policy. A variety of options exist. And every gift, large or small, helps strengthen Savio in permanent ways.

If you create a legacy gift, please let us know. Sharing your intentions will help with our long-term planning and may also serve as an inspiration for others to make similar legacy gifts. Please contact Joshua Pruyn at jpruyn@saviohouse.org or (303) 526-8310 with any questions at all.

  • There are many ways to support Savio with an estate gift, options that balance planning for loved ones with a chance to help the children and families we serve.

The following provides a brief introduction:

    Charitable Bequest

By including us in your Will or Living Trust, you create a gift today that Savio will receive when your estate is settled.

Sample language for a specific bequest to Savio is:

“I give to Savio House, Tax ID 84-0570279, 325 King Street, Denver, CO 80219, a Colorado non-profit corporation, the sum of $_______ [or ______% of my estate; or the property described herein], for its general purposes.”

Sample language for a residuary bequest to Savio is:

“I give Savio House, Tax ID 84-0570279, 325 King Street, Denver, CO 80219, a Colorado non-profit corporation, all [or ______%] of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, for its general purposes.”

    Beneficiary Designation

You can name Savio as a beneficiary of your IRA, workplace retirement plan, or permanent life insurance policy. To create a gift, simply request and complete a “beneficiary change” form to update your instructions to include Savio—in whatever percentage you decide appropriate.

    Additional Options

Additional legacy options include a Charitable Remainder Trust, Charitable Lead Trust, or Retained Life Estate. While these gifts can help achieve specific planning goals in addition to supporting Savio, your professional advisors are best positioned to help you explore these opportunities.

  • Revocable Gifts

The future is uncertain. However, you can still create a legacy gift today while simultaneously retaining full control over your assets for life. These gifts are called revocable gifts. If an unforeseen need arises, your assets are in place. Only when your estate settles will Savio receive your gift

Unless you are confident that you will not outlive your assets, a revocable legacy gift is almost always the best option. These gifts are generally one of the following:

    • Bequest in a Will or Living Trust

    • Beneficiary Designation in IRA or Retirement Plan

    • Beneficiary Designation in Life Insurance Policy

    • POD Arrangement for a Bank Account

By naming us in your will, living trust or as a beneficiary, you create protection against future uncertainties. Should you need your assets, they are available. If not, a wonderful legacy gift will one day come to Savio.

  • The IRS creates important tax incentives to encourage charitable support. To qualify for a tax benefit, a gift typically must be irrevocable. Stated differently, a gift must be complete and not one that a donor could ‘reclaim’ in any way.

Examples of irrevocable gifts include Charitable Remainder Trusts, Charitable Lead Trusts, and Retained Life Estates. While they can provide specific tax benefits in certain circumstances, an irrevocable legacy gift is best considered in consultation with your tax and financial advisors.

  • It is always appropriate to consult with your professional advisors when considering an estate gift. The following information can help your advisor facilitate any gift you might wish to make:

Recommended Language for Bequests and Testamentary Gifts

Sample language for a specific bequest to Savio is:

“I give to Savio House, Tax ID 84-0570279, 325 King Street, Denver, CO 80219, a Colorado non-profit corporation, the sum of $_______ [or ______% of my estate; or the property described herein], for its general purposes.”

    Beneficiary Designation

To support Savio through a workplace retirement plan, IRA, or life insurance policy, a person can request a Beneficiary Change Form from their company or plan administrator. Beneficiary Change forms are often available online. These gifts can be made in whatever percentage is appropriate.

    Other Arrangements

Savio also encourages estate gifts through other arrangements, including Charitable Remainder and Charitable Lead Trusts. Savio prefers not to serve as Trustee for these gifts.

Giving Guide

Thank You!

Savio created the Joseph Frattini Legacy Society to honor and recognize those who remember us with an estate gift. This provides us with an opportunity to say “thank you” during a person’s life.

We also recognize that some donors prefer to remain anonymous regarding a future estate gift. We will honor and respect these wishes in full. In some cases, a client may allow an advisor to share their name with us, knowing we will not publish or promote the legacy gift in any way. In other situations, an advisor can play a helpful role in forwarding a ‘Thank You’ letter to a client, while simultaneously preserving client anonymity.

If your client moves forward with an estate gift, we would appreciate your guidance about the best way to share our gratitude.

If you have any questions at all, please contact Joshua Pruyn at jpruyn@saviohouse.org or (303) 526-8310.
