Sponsor a Senior!
Helping Savio’s teenagers as they step into their next chapter of Senior Year shows that someone believes in them. It gives them the confidence they need to build a stronger future.
Meet Kenna
Kenna, seventeen, is the kind of teen who fills a room with jokes and can be found helping friends. Yet behind her funny, kindhearted nature was instability. Her parents’ addictions led her to live with her grandparents and the isolation of her mountain town weighed on her. Looking for escape, she turned to drinking, and school quickly became a struggle— until her counselor connected her with Savio’s Youth Behavioral program.
It was a chance to embrace a season of homecoming and discover the life she was meant to live.
A Brighter School Year
With therapy and sobriety, Kenna’s school life turned around. Her attendance became steady, and she found passion for her art and culinary classes. As her excitement grew, so did her grades and confidence. Teachers even caught her giggling while assisting a friend with an art project— her silly, thoughtful self shining through again.
One Shift at a Time
Her therapist saw everything change when they gave her permission to “just be a teenager” by finding a balance of letting her grandparents take care of her in some ways and exploring autonomy in others. Eager to put her art skills into practice, Kenna landed an after-school job at a local pizza shop. There, she's gaining valuable real-world experience and responsibility.
She's also found an artistic outlet in her pizza designs. Every hour she works, she's not just learning about the culinary world—she's also saving money, taking a tangible step toward her future after high school. And when coming home, Kenna’s grandparents make her dinner, helping her feel taken care of in return. Their comfort and safety as a reminder that her new independence is built on a strong foundation of love.
Making Her Own Tomorrow
Building on the creative skills she's gaining, Kenna's big dream is to attend college for culinary arts. She envisions a future where she combines her passions to design beautiful wedding cakes. It's a goal she's proudly pursuing, a testament to her determination and unwavering commitment to her sober journey.
